Hi, I’m Crystal Foster.

As a mental health clinician, are you aware that nutrition has an effect on the mental health of your clients but are not sure what to do with that information?

Maybe you have been watching the emerging field of nutrition and mental wellbeing expanding but are not clear about how to integrate these findings into your clinical practice while staying within your scope?

This is where I was about ten years ago. Working as a clinical psychologist I had just had my first exposure to the field of nutrition and mental health, and my perspective as a clinician was never the same again.

I simply had to learn how to integrate this information into my everyday work, or it would drive me crazy!

This began my journey into learning more deeply about the many ways that nutrition can impact mental wellbeing, and staying informed about developments as the field grew exponentially. As of today I am almost finished training as a clinical nutritionist.

Integration into clinical practice came gradually as my understanding deepened. I eventually moved from individual sessions into group education on nutrition and mental wellbeing with people experiencing depression and anxiety in the primary health sector.

This workshop is the next stage of sharing this information more widely. I believe that people like you who work in mental and general health are some of the best people to be empowering those struggling with mental health difficulties with knowledge that can help them improve their lives.

You are the ones best placed to know when to share this information, how much to share, and what is likely to be most useful to your client at a particular point in time.

I will share with you what has worked well and what I have learned from my experience sharing this information with clients, and provide you with the client education handouts I wish I had when I first started this journey!

I want to see a world where we have more effective mental health care, and more people making complete recoveries into mental and emotional wellbeing. I absolutely believe this is possible, and this is one of my contributions to the world I want to see.
